Christmas Success

Our Christmas Santa Sleigh toured the area during December. Supported by an excellent team of volunteers, we  were able to complete 11 evening runs in Hayling Island, Havant, Langstone, Leigh Park, Bedhampton, Denvilles and Emsworth.

We are well aware how much families enjoy seeing the sleigh and the children are so excited, it is a real community event. This year we raised £9,100 which will be used  to support local and International projects and charities.

Thank you all so much. More

Havant Rotary Launches Make Havant Safer Campaign

In the event of an emergency where there is a catastrophic loss of blood from a stabbing, glass cut or road accident etc, every second counts. Ambulance arrival national target times for a category 1 callout, which is the most serious category, where loss of life is a real danger is 7 minutes. In our area the actual times being achieved are significantly longer, increasing a real risk to life.

Working with the Daniel Baird Foundation, Havant Rotary is working to make available as widely as possible, a bleed control pack. This vital piece of emergency equipment is designed to help save lives in the event of a serious injury or incident. Major blood loss reduces the chances of survival significantly. The pack contains equipment that can stop bleeding and buy time for the ambulance services to arrive.

We have started by donating packs to senior schools in the area with a larger and wider distribution being planned.

Havant Rotary Easter Egg Project

Easter Egg Project 25 Helps Charities Raise £25,542

For easter 2025, Havant Rotary donated 106 two kg easter eggs to local charities, projects, food banks and schools. to enable them to raffle the eggs and raise much needed funds.

This year the charities raised an amazing £25,542

There were some challenges this year in that , the price of chocolate had risen dramatically and it was necessary to change supplier, which also meant that the  size of the eggs increased to 2kg. However we also managed to increase the number of eggs and charities that benefited.

Congratulations to all the charities that benefited this year.

This year we also worked with other Rotary Clubs in our area and  they also helped local charities in their area to raise a further £10,200.

Congratulations to Geoff James who leads this project so professionally.

The Easter Eggs will return in 2026.

QA Childrens Emergency Project

QA Hospital Children's Emergency Art Project

A new purpose built Children’s Emergency Unit has been created at QA Hospital as part of the new accident and emergency unit. It provides great facilities and enables them to treat more children.

Working with other local Rotary Club’s we raised £9,600 to help the nursing team create a child friendly unit that helps to relax children that are often scared and traumatised, on possibly one of the worst days of their lives.

Artist Lizzie Cornelius gave the unit some lovely artwork and we with other clubs raised the money for the art to be printed and installed. The artwork once printed has to be laminated to ensure it can be cleaned to reduce infection.

Nurses tell us that the artwork and toys in the unit help to relax children.  Relaxed children can be treated quicker and achieve better outcomes.

The majority of the artwork has now been installed.

The artwork can be viewed here.
