Once again Stan and Mary Pike have invited us to a Tea Party in their beautiful garden. Parking will again be in the field behind the house with entry to the field being through a gate opposite the Langstone Hotel. It will be clearly marked. Stan and Mary will provide tea and cakes but if you also wish to provide cakes, this would be be most welcome. This event will be run as previous years with donations being for the National Gardens Scheme. This organisation supports several charities including Macmillan Nurses and Marie Curie Nurses. Last year NGS raised £3.1M from over 3500 garden events. A donation of £10 a head would provide a reasonable sum to send to them.

Gwen Sargent  a student at Bishop Luffa School, was supported by Havant Rotary to go on  a school trip to Tanzania to work with the Grassroots Trust. The charity runs a project based in Mbeya, where they provide sponsorship for children to attend school, run feeding programs and support the community. They operate through the local churches, which enables 100% of donations to be given directly, without overheads. The trip took place from the 11th-21st July 2023 and Gwen is coming to tell us about her trip and the work of the Grassroots Charity.
