Our guest speaker Nigel Gossop will talk on the Westerman Yarns. Percy F Westerman was a prolific writer of children’s stories. Many of his books are adventure stories with military and naval themes. During the 1930s Westerman was voted as the most popular author of stories for boys. His books – at least 174 were published – sold over one and a half million copies. Westerman was born in Portsmouth 1876 and educated at The Portsmouth Grammar School. He followed a military career. He was commissioned , like W E Johns, in the Royal Flying Corps before turning to full time writing.
